Morning Mist is on a working farm in Strensall. It's small, built for two people. You get your own little detached cottage and an enclosed garden.
Inside, it's open plan. Kitchen, living area, and the bed are all in one room. The bed is a kingsize and it's raised up by the window, so you can see the fields when you wake up. The shower room is separate, built into its own little shepherd's hut just outside the back door.
There's a wood burner for heat and a wood-fired hot tub in the garden. We leave wood for you. The layout means it's very much for couples, not really set up for friends sharing.
You're on the edge of Strensall Common. Good for walks right from the door. The village is about a mile away for a shop and a couple of pubs.
York is easy to get to, about eight miles. You can drive, or there are buses. We keep a couple of bikes here if you'd rather cycle in. All the main things in York are within reach: the Minster, the Railway Museum, that sort of thing.
Castle Howard is a big draw, maybe 20 minutes by car. For a day out, the North York Moors are about half an hour's drive. The coast at Whitby or Scarborough is a bit further, maybe 45 minutes to an hour depending on traffic.
In terms of what's here, it has a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger. It's on a farm, so you'll see animals and farm vehicles coming and going. We don't accept pets.
If you're planning trips, the North York Moors National Park site is useful. For history, English Heritage has local places.
