Applegate Cottage is on a farm down a long drive outside Holtby village, about five miles from York. It's a barn conversion that's been done up nicely. There are five other cottages here, so it's not secluded, but you've got your own space. The owner lives on site.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms so no queueing. One bedroom has its own en-suite. It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's more comfortable than most, things like good beds and a decent kitchen. It feels new.
You come straight into an open plan room when you go in. Kitchen's good, granite tops, proper oven. There's a wood burner in the living area which works well. Ceilings are high because of the barn shape.
The garden is large and enclosed, but it's shared between all the cottages. There's a summerhouse, some paths, and a pond that's fenced off. There's also a courtyard with seating and a koi pond where you can sit.
For things to do, York is the main thing. It's about a 10 or 15 minute drive to the park and ride. You can walk the walls, see the Minster, all of that. There's a good pub about a mile away. Shops are a couple of miles.
Further out, you can get to Harrogate in under 40 minutes. The North York Moors are about 45 minutes to an hour's drive. The coast around Scarborough is just over an hour.
Facilities are all here. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Plenty of parking right outside. No pets allowed.
