The Granary is two miles outside York city centre. It's a renovated farm building from the 1700s. You're in a big courtyard with other properties, but it all feels very quiet and looks out over fields. You have to drive down your own long track to get to it, about 200 yards.
It sleeps five people in three bedrooms and has two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well-finished. Everything works.
You've got your own garden and patio with a barbecue. Parking is right there. Inside, there's a dishwasher and washing machine, and all your bedding and towels are included. WiFi works fine. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
The pub is very close, just a short walk up the lane. The nearest shop is about a mile away.
York is really easy to get to. You can drive in or get a bus. It's got everything: the Minster, the walls you can walk on, the Shambles. The National Railway Museum is free and good even if you're not that into trains. York Minster, National Railway Museum.
If you want to get out of the city, the North York Moors are about half an hour's drive. Pickering has the steam railway. Castle Howard is about twenty minutes away. North York Moors National Park.
The coast is a bit further, maybe an hour to places like Whitby or Scarborough if you fancy that for a day trip.
The stairs inside are a typical cottage staircase. They're not a problem, but they are a bit steeper and narrower than a modern house.
No pets allowed, I'm afraid.
