The Nest is an apartment above the garage at our house. We live in the main house across the drive if you need anything. It's directly opposite the Knavesmire, which is the York racecourse. The city centre is under a mile away. You can walk it, or the bus stop is a couple of minutes down the road.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There's one bathroom with a shower. It got a 4 Star rating after a refurbishment a few years ago. It's clean and modern. The stairs up to the front door are external and a bit steep, which is worth knowing.
There's a shared patio area that gets the sun in the late afternoon. You can park right there. We've put in bicycle storage if you're bringing bikes.
Inside, it's open plan. There's a kitchen with a dishwasher, a living area with a TV, and the bedrooms are off that. The bedrooms have Velux windows so they're bright.
A local pub and a restaurant are about five minutes' walk away. The shop is a bit further, maybe ten minutes. You really don't need a car to see York from here.
For things to do, you're right by the racecourse for the races. The Minster, the Shambles, the Jorvik Centre, it's all a straightforward walk. For planning, the City of York Council visitor page is useful, and the Welcome to Yorkshire site has ideas for the wider area.
Bedding and towels are included. There's a BBQ. No pets, sorry.
