The Old Bike Store
The Old Bike Store is in York. It's a detached cottage, converted from what it says on the tin. It's about a ten minute walk from the Minster, up Gillygate.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Both have super king beds that can be split into twins if you need that. One bedroom is downstairs, the other is up. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean, comfortable, and everything works.
Inside, it's all open plan. Kitchen, dining table, seating area. Patio doors open out to your own courtyard garden. It's a nice spot for a coffee in the morning.
You can bring one well-behaved dog. There's bike storage if you need it, and parking on site. It's all on one level once you're inside, so it's suitable if you have mobility issues or use a wheelchair.
Gillygate itself has a few good cafes and shops. There's a pub nearby. For the city itself, you're best just walking in. York Minster is the obvious one. The Jorvik Viking Centre and the National Railway Museum are popular, especially with kids. You can walk the walls or go on a river cruise.
If you want to drive out, the North York Moors are about forty minutes away. Castle Howard is roughly half an hour. For planning days out, the National Trust for York and the North York Moors National Park sites are useful.
