Blacksmith's Cottage is in Askham Bryan, about five miles west of York. It's a traditional brick cottage. You get the garden to yourselves, which is fully enclosed. It's lawned with a patio, and there's a pond with ducks.
The cottage sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not high-end.
There's a local pub a short walk away. Wi-Fi is included, bedding and towels are provided, and there's a washing machine. You can park on site. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
It's very handy for York. Takes about 15 minutes to drive in, or you can get a bus. Once you're there, you've got the Minster, the Shambles, the Railway Museum, and all the history. It's a good base because you can do the city, then come back here where it's quiet.
For walking, you're close to the Yorkshire Wolds. The North York Moors are a bit further, maybe 45 minutes' drive. Castle Howard is about half an hour away.
