The Carriage House

The Carriage House is in Upper Poppleton, just outside York. It used to be part of the old railway station, which is next door. You can see the trains go by.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is handy. One bedroom is downstairs, a twin with its own shower. Upstairs there's a king size double and a family bathroom with a bath and a separate shower. The stairs are a standard staircase, not a cottage ladder.

The main room is big, with a high ceiling and doors that open right up. The kitchen's modern and has a dishwasher and washing machine. There's a small enclosed patio out the back with a table and chairs. Parking for one car at the front, and more on the road if you need it.

The village has what you need. A shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a bus stop down the road. The train station is literally next door. It's about five minutes into York, so you don't have to drive. The Park and Ride is two minutes away if you'd prefer that.

York is the main thing, obviously. But if you want a day out, you can drive to places like Beningbrough Hall or Castle Howard. Harrogate and Malton are within half an hour. The coast at Scarborough is about an hour.

It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished and everything's included, like bedding and towels. There's WiFi and TV. No pets, sorry.
