Ay Come Inn is in Acomb, about two miles from York city centre. It's a modern townhouse, good for a couple. The bus into town stops almost outside, so you don't have to drive.
It's a 4 Star place, which means it's been recently done up to a good standard. Everything feels new and clean. It sleeps two, with one bedroom and one bathroom.
You come in through the front door into the main living space. It's all open plan: kitchen, living area, and a table. The kitchen is smart and has what you need. Upstairs is a unique spiral staircase. It's fine, but mind your head if you're tall. The bedroom and bathroom are up there. The shower is a good, walk-in one.
Out the back there's a small, enclosed patio with a table and chairs. It gets the sun in the evening. You can park on the driveway.
One well-behaved dog is welcome. Bedding and towels are included, and there's WiFi.
For getting about, York itself is the main draw. You can be in the centre in about ten minutes on the bus. Walking in along the river takes about 45 minutes. Once you're there, you've got the Minster, the Shambles, the Railway Museum, and all the rest. The English Heritage site for Clifford's Tower is useful for booking. For a wider view of what's on, Visit York is the official site.
If you want to drive out, the North York Moors are about half an hour to the north. Castle Howard is about a 20 minute drive east.
