Big Barn is in a place called Skelton, just outside York. It's about two miles from the city centre, which takes you maybe five minutes in a car. You come down a private drive, so it feels properly rural. The barns are arranged around a big courtyard, overlooking fields.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well kitted out and comfortable. The renovation kept a lot of the original character. You get the whole barn to yourselves, it's not shared.
There's a local pub about 200 yards up the road. They do food. The nearest shop is about a mile away in the village.
Being so close to York is the main thing. You can drive in, or there's a park and ride a bit further along. The Minster, the walls, the Shambles, all of it. The National Trust has Beningbrough Hall nearby, and there's always York Castle Museum or the Railway Museum if the weather turns.
Further out, you've got Castle Howard about a 20 minute drive for a proper day out. The North York Moors are about half an hour away if you want proper walking. The coast at Scarborough or Filey is about 40 miles.
Practical things: there's parking right outside. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's a garden with a BBQ. Sorry, no pets.
