Rose Cottage
Rose Cottage is in Strensall, on the River Foss. It’s a single-storey place, all on the ground floor. Sleeps four, two bedrooms.
It’s got a 4 star rating. Everything’s new and it’s very accessible. There’s ramp access, and the wet room has a walk-in double shower. The kitchen is modern and the living area is open plan with a high ceiling. It feels bright.
Outside, there’s a decked area with a four-person hot tub. You can bring one dog.
The village has what you need: a few pubs, some shops, a post office, and a chippy. Strensall Common is right there. It’s a big conservation area run by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, good for walking and birdwatching. York Golf Club is on the edge of it.
York is about seven miles away. There’s a regular bus from the village. It’s got the Minster, the Railway Museum, the Jorvik Viking Centre, the lot. Good for a day out. The English Heritage and National Trust sites around here are useful for planning.
If you drive, you’re about half an hour from the edge of the North York Moors. Pickering, for the steam train to Whitby, is about 45 minutes. Castle Howard and the market towns like Easingwold are within a 30 minute drive. The coast at Scarborough or Filey is about 45 minutes.
Facilities: everything’s included. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels. There’s parking. Woodburner. BBQ. They provide a cot and highchair if needed.
It’s one of four cottages next to each other. They can be booked together for bigger groups.
