Sunflower Cottage is in Strensall, which is about seven miles north of York. It's all on one floor, so no stairs to worry about. It's modern and clean. The rating is 4 Star, which it gets for things like the wood burner and the hot tub.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one is a king size bed and the other has twin beds. One bathroom with a shower. The hot tub is on the decking outside and seats five. There's an enclosed garden that's just for you.
The village has what you need: a couple of pubs, shops, a post office, and a fish and chip shop. They're about half a mile away. Strensall Common is right on the doorstep. It's a big area managed by the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and good for walks and birdwatching.
You can get the bus into York from the village. York is obviously the main thing. The Minster, the Railway Museum, the Shambles. All the history is there. It's a proper day out.
If you drive, Castle Howard and Beningbrough Hall are within half an hour. The North York Moors aren't much further. The steam train from Pickering to Whitby is the classic trip there. The coast at Scarborough or Filey is about 45 minutes away.
For facilities, you've got the wood burner, the hot tub, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
If you're looking for walks or days out, the North York Moors National Park site is useful.
