Mill Cottage
This is Mill Cottage. It's in Stillington, about a twenty minute drive from York. It used to be a cow shed for the mill, but it's been done up.
It's a two bedroom place, sleeps four. One bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs are wooden and a bit on the steep side, which is fairly normal.
The best thing is the garden. It's enclosed and looks out over the fields to the River Foss. You've also got use of the mill grounds if you fancy a wander. The kitchen and living room is open plan. There's a wood burner for colder evenings.
The village is a short walk away. There's a community shop and post office, two pubs that do food, a fish and chip shop, and an Indian restaurant. All useful.
For walking, you can set off from the door into the Howardian Hills. North York Moors National Park is about half an hour's drive if you want bigger walks. National Trust properties like Castle Howard and Nunnington Hall are close by. The coast at Scarborough or Whitby is just under an hour.
York is the main draw though. You can be parked up there in twenty minutes. It's got everything, the Minster, the Shambles, the Railway Museum, boat trips. Good for a day out or an evening.
The cottage has parking, a washing machine, WiFi, a TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Sorry, no pets.
