Tudor House is on the market square in Easingwold. It's a terraced house, and we're told it's the oldest one here, from the 1500s. You can see that straight away because there are beams all over the place.
It sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. A twin room with its own shower is on the ground floor, which is handy. The main bedroom upstairs has an original Elizabethan smoke hood in the wall from the fireplace below. It's a very unusual feature.
The stairs are a bit uneven and steep in parts, it's that kind of house. There are two living rooms, both with big inglenook fireplaces. One has a wood burner.
You come in through the back garden into a modern extension. That's where the dining table is, which seats eight, and the kitchen. It's a good space for everyone to be together.
Easingwold is a proper market town. The square is cobbled. You've got shops, cafes, a pub and places to eat about a five minute walk away.
Thirsk is about ten minutes by car. That's where the James Herriot Museum is. For walking, Sutton Bank has the best views and it's a short drive. The Yorkshire Dales National Park is on the doorstep too.
York, Harrogate and Helmsley are all within half an hour for a day out. If you fancy the coast, Whitby and Scarborough are about an hour's drive.
In terms of what's here: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. We accept up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed but it's not huge.
For planning trips, the North York Moors National Park site is useful.
