This is Thompsons Arms Cottage No.1. It's in Flaxton, which is about fifteen minutes drive from York. The cottage is right next to our pub, which is handy. You've got a small courtyard garden and your own parking spot.
It's for two people. One bedroom with a bed, and the bathroom is right next to it. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and everything works. It's all one open plan space downstairs for the kitchen and living area.
The facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, a washer, and bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
You're basically on the edge of the Howardian Hills here, which is good walking and cycling country. Castle Howard is very close, that's the big stately home. The market towns of Easingwold and Helmsley aren't far. For ruins, Byland and Rievaulx Abbeys are nearby.
York is eight miles away. You can do everything there: the Minster, the Railway Museum, Jorvik, all of it. If you fancy the coast, you can drive to Pickering and get the steam train across the moors to Whitby.
For local information, the North York Moors National Park site is useful, and English Heritage looks after a lot of the abbeys round here.
