Thompsons Arms Cottages No2
This is Thompson's Arms Cottage No. 2 in Flaxton. It's one of a pair of cottages right next to our pub. It's a one bedroom place, sleeps two. Good for a couple.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The layout is all open plan downstairs, so the living area and kitchen are together. Everything's on the ground floor, no stairs to worry about. There's a shower room, not a bath.
You get your own little courtyard garden with a BBQ and parking right there.
The pub is about twenty five yards from your front door. It's our place, so we're here if you need anything. We serve food. There's a shop in nearby Strensall, about three miles.
York is eight miles east. You can drive in or get the bus from the village. It's got everything: the Minster, the National Railway Museum, the Shambles. All that.
You're on the edge of the Howardian Hills here, which is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Good for walks. Castle Howard is about a twenty minute drive. The market towns of Easingwold and Helmsley are within half an hour.
If you head the other way, towards Pickering, you can get on the North York Moors Railway steam train. That goes right through to Whitby on the coast.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are included. No pets. You can book both cottages together if you're a group of four.
