Bluebell Barn is outside Dunnington, outside York. It's a single-storey barn conversion, so everything's on the ground floor. That's useful if stairs are an issue.
It sleeps six, has three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own en-suite bathroom. That's the main thing, really. No queuing for the shower.
The living area is open plan. One big room with a kitchen, dining table, and sofas. The floor is polished concrete, so it can feel cool underfoot. There's a big wood burner. You get a basket of logs to start you off.
The garden is a good size. There's a patio with a table and chairs, and a BBQ. It looks out onto the fields. It's private.
It's got a 5 Star rating. It's been done well. Everything's clean and works. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, parking right outside. Towels and bedding are included. We can provide a highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
There’s a pub and a restaurant about three-quarters of a mile down the lane. The village shop is a mile away.
For walks, you can go straight out into Hagg Wood from the back. The Sustrans cycle route runs nearby if you bring bikes.
York is about fifteen minutes by car. You can drive to Grimston Bar Park and Ride and get the bus in, which is easier than dealing with city centre parking. They’ve got all the things you’d expect: the Minster, the Railway Museum, Jorvik, the Shambles. The city walls are good for a walk.
Within half an hour you can get to the Yorkshire Air Museum and the Farming Museum. The North York Moors are maybe forty minutes drive if you want proper hills. The coast at Bridlington, Filey, or Scarborough is about an hour.
