Oxtoby's Downstairs

Oxtoby's Downstairs is a ground-floor apartment in a house in York. The house itself is very old, over three hundred years. You look out at the city walls. You can see the Minster from the main window.

It's set up for two people. One bedroom, one wet room. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's a comfortable, clean base rather than a luxury place, which suits most people visiting York. The patio is a useful thing to have in a city centre.

The location is the main point. You're right opposite a section of the city walls. You can walk into the centre in a few minutes. There's a pub about a hundred yards away, and shops and restaurants are all very close.

You're in the middle of it all, so you have the Minster, the Shambles, the Jorvik Viking Centre, all that, on your doorstep. You can walk a good stretch of the walls from here. If you want a different view, the riverboat trips on the Ouse start nearby. York City Walls have information on access.

For a day out, Castle Howard is about half an hour's drive. It's a big stately home with gardens. The National Railway Museum is in York and is free, which is good if the weather turns.

In terms of what's here: there's a washing machine, a TV, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. There's a small patio with a table and chairs. Parking isn't on site, but there are public car parks a short walk away.
