Field View Cottage is one of five cottages around a courtyard at Holtby Grange. I live on site, just down the drive. It's the biggest of the five. You're down a long private lane, so it's quiet, and it looks out over fields.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own en-suite bathroom. It's got a 5 Star rating. It's a comfortable, well-finished place.
You come straight into a big open plan room with the kitchen, dining and living area. There's a wood burner, a vaulted ceiling, and a proper kitchen with a Belfast sink and good appliances. The stairs are here too.
Outside, there's a large enclosed garden that's shared between all the cottages. It's got paths, a summerhouse, and a wooded bit. There's a central pond, but it's fenced off. There's also a shared courtyard with seating and a koi pond.
We take dogs, up to two. There's an enclosed paddock for them to run in and an outdoor dog shower.
You're about five miles from the centre of York. It's an easy drive, or you can get a bus. York has everything: the Minster, the Railway Museum, the Jorvik Centre, plus all the shops and restaurants. A local pub is a mile away.
Further out, you've got Harrogate about 21 miles away, Thirsk is 31 miles, and Scarborough on the coast is about 44 miles. All are doable for a day trip.
Facilities: everything you'd expect is included. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, bedding and towels. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking is right there.
