Brookshaw Cottage

Brookshaw Cottage is my place just outside the city centre. It's an end-of-terrace stone house, built in the 1890s. You can walk into York in about fifteen minutes. That's the main thing.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs: one double, one with twins. One bathroom downstairs, with a shower over the bath. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.

The stairs are worth mentioning. They're the original cottage stairs, so they're steep and a bit narrow. Just take your time.

There's a small private patio out the back. Gets the sun in the afternoon. The kitchen has what you need if you want to cook. There's a washing machine, WiFi, and all the bedding and towels are provided.

You can bring one dog. The front entrance is step-free if that helps.

York is the main event. You've got the Minster, the Shambles, the Railway Museum, Clifford's Tower. All walkable. The racecourse is close by too. Good pubs and restaurants are everywhere.

If you drive, the North York Moors aren't far. About a half hour to the edge of the National Park. North York Moors National Park has walking routes and things to see. Castle Howard is about twenty minutes away as well.
