The cottage is called Mucky Peg, named after one of the little snickleways in York. It's a ground-floor apartment in a converted old hotel on Clifton Green.
It sleeps five. There are two bedrooms, both with super king-size beds that can be split into singles if you need. Each bedroom has its own shower room. There's also a sofa bed in the living area for one extra adult.
The main living space is open plan with a big bay window looking onto the green. It's bright. The kitchen has what you need: an oven, dishwasher, washing machine. There's a wine fridge too.
Being on the ground floor and having a level entry makes it accessible. There's parking on site, which is a real help in York.
Location is the main thing. You're about a ten-minute walk from the city centre, through Bootham Bar. Everything in York is on your doorstep: the Minster, the Shambles, the museums. When you've had enough of the crowds, Clifton Green is right outside your window. It’s a good spot to come back to.
Further out, you're well-placed for the North York Moors. The coast at Scarborough or Whitby is about an hour's drive. The Yorkshire Wolds are a bit closer.
Useful links for planning: City of York Council for general visitor info, and Welcome to Yorkshire. For the wider area, North York Moors National Park is the site to check.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well-finished and comfortable. No pets, I'm afraid.
