Meadow Cottage is in Flamborough. It's on the Head, about a mile back from the lighthouse. It's an old barn conversion, so there are some exposed timbers inside. The rating is 3 Star, which means it's clean and comfortable. It's not modern luxury, but it's warm and does the job.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles I think, and two bathrooms. One is a shower room. That's quite handy, makes things easier if there's four of you. There's underfloor heating downstairs, which is nice in winter. The garden is yours to use, it's got a patio with furniture. You can see fields from it.
The village is about three quarters of a mile away. There's a couple of shops and pubs there. They're fine for basics and a meal. The closest pub does food.
The main thing here is the coast. It's about a twenty minute walk to the lighthouse. The cliffs are really something. The RSPB reserve at Bempton is up the coast, maybe a ten minute drive. It's one of the biggest seabird colonies in England. You can walk there along the cliff top if you're feeling energetic. Useful link for that: RSPB Bempton Cliffs.
For a beach, you've got the little bay at Selwick's, below the lighthouse. It's shingle with rock pools. Bridlington is about four miles south. That's got a proper promenade and a bigger beach. Filey and Scarborough are within half an hour's drive if you want a change.
The local golf course is very close, less than a mile. They're friendly to visitors.
Facilities: there's parking right outside. Washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a travel cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring up to two dogs.
For planning walks or other days out, the Welcome to Yorkshire site is quite good, and the North York Moors National Park isn't far if you fancy a drive inland.
