The Old Forge Cottage
The Old Forge Cottage is in Sewerby village. It sits behind the old forge building, which is now a tea room. You can see a bit of the roof from the lane, but most people walk right past it.
It's for two people. One bedroom upstairs, one bathroom downstairs. The shower is electric. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and works fine, but don't expect luxury finishes. The wifi is decent.
The stairs are a standard cottage staircase. They're not a ladder, but they are steeper than in a modern house. There's a step down into the living room from the kitchen area, so watch your step.
You can bring one dog. There's a small yard area at the back to let them out. For proper walks, you're on the cliff path within five minutes. You can turn left and walk to Bridlington, or right towards Flamborough. Danes Dyke nature reserve is a good walk north.
The pub is about 150 yards up the road. They do food. There's a shop about half a mile away for basics.
Sewerby Hall is the big local attraction. The grounds are worth the entry fee alone. There's a zoo and the gardens are massive. Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
Bridlington is a mile or so along the cliffs. It's a proper seaside town with a working harbour, two beaches, and the Spa theatre. Flamborough Head and Filey are a short drive north. Bempton Cliffs RSPB reserve is close if you like seabirds. RSPB Bempton Cliffs.
Further afield, York is about an hour's drive. Scarborough is maybe 40 minutes. The Yorkshire Wolds are on your doorstep for driving through.
Facilities: parking for one car right outside. TV, wifi, bedding and towels are included. There's no washing machine. It's on an open plan layout downstairs. Golf, fishing, and horse riding are available locally.
