This is Whispering Reeds. It's a detached house in Horning, right on a side channel of the River Bure. You look straight out at the water.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating. It's well done. Everything works properly and it's comfortable.
The main thing is the river. There are two big decks outside and a 60 foot garden that goes down to your own little quay with seats. It's a quiet spot to watch the boats. You can fish from there if you want. There's a hot tub on the upper deck. We also built an outdoor kitchen area with a barbecue.
Inside, it's open plan. Big sliding doors open straight onto the deck. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings. Upstairs, the main bedroom has doors that open onto a balcony overlooking the garden.
You can park two cars right outside, under a CCTV camera. We have an electric vehicle charger.
You can hire a 17 foot day boat from us directly while you're here. Makes it easy to get out on the water. The fishing is supposed to be good for pike in the winter, when it's quieter.
Horning village is about a ten minute walk. It's a proper Broads village. There are pubs, restaurants, a few shops and tea rooms. You can hire boats there or go on a trip on the Southern Comfort paddle steamer. In summer there are boat races and a regatta week.
For a day out, Bewilderwood is the tree-top adventure park for kids. Wroxham is four miles away, it's got lots of shops and cafes by the water. The Bure Valley Railway runs miniature steam trains from Aylsham to Wroxham. The coast with sandy beaches is about twelve miles. Norwich is eleven miles away if you want a city day.
We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
