The Mowle is a thatched cottage in Ludham. It's old, built around 1550. It's detached and sleeps up to ten people, across five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
The main thing is the garden. It's large, about an acre, and it's not just a lawn. There are streams and ponds. It goes right down to the water. You have a private quayside mooring if you bring a boat. At the bottom of the garden, over a river bridge, there's a little separate bit of riverbank called Mowle Point. It's got a sun house and seats. You can sit there and watch the boats on Womack Water. It's good for fishing.
Inside, it's spacious. The kitchen is big enough for cooking for a crowd. The dining room is a conservatory, which is light. The dining table converts into a table tennis table. There's a games room with a pool table. The lounge has a woodburning stove.
A couple of things to know. There are two staircases to the first floor. One of them is quite steep, as you'd expect in an old place. And because of the streams and ponds, you'll need to keep an eye on children and dogs. The garden gets a lot of sun but there are shaded bits too.
Ludham village has a shop, a post office, a pub, and a butcher. It's a good base. You can hire boats locally at places like Potter Heigham or Horning, which are a short drive away.
If you want a beach day, the coast at Sea Palling or Winterton is about twenty minutes by car. Norwich is about seven miles if you need a city. For days out, the Bewilderwood attraction at Horning is popular with families.
Facilities wise: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and bedding is included. There's on-site parking. You can bring up to three dogs. There's also a hot tub in the garden, away from the house.
