The Cartlodge
The Cartlodge is a single-storey barn conversion on our farm in Hickling. It's part of a group of three, all converted from the same old farm buildings. They're close together but each one has its own enclosed garden and feels private. You'll be on our land, but it's your own space.
It sleeps two, in one bedroom with an en-suite shower. It has the 5 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard. It's clean, comfortable, and everything works. The heating is good.
The garden is enclosed, which is handy if you're bringing dogs. We take up to two. There's a patio with furniture, and parking right outside.
Hickling Broad is about a mile away. It's a nature reserve, good for a walk and birdwatching. You can hire day boats at Hickling Staithe or at Potter Heigham, which is a few miles down the road.
The coast is about three miles east. Sea Palling and Waxham have long sandy beaches. If you want to see seals, Horsey Gap is a bit further up the coast. You can often see them on the beach there.
There are two pubs in the village, both within walking distance. They serve food. The nearest shop is in Stalham, which is about three miles away.
Norwich is about a 40-minute drive if you want a city day. The National Trust has some big houses nearby, like Blickling Hall. The Broads Authority website is good for planning boat trips or walks.
Facilities here include the Wi-Fi, TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's also an electric vehicle charger on site.
