The Boat Shed

The Boat Shed is in Hickling, Norfolk. It's one of three old barns converted into holiday places, on the same farm as us. They're all separate from each other, so you get your own privacy. You've got a private, enclosed garden with a patio and somewhere to park.

It sleeps four in two bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower. It's got a 5 Star rating, which means it's well equipped and comfortable. It's open plan downstairs. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, and an electric vehicle charger on site.

You can bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which is useful for that.

The village is walking distance. There's a local pub that does food, and another one a bit further. There's a small village shop too.

Hickling Broad is just down the road. It's a nature reserve, good for walking and birdwatching. You can hire boats from there or from Potter Heigham, which isn't far. It's all part of the Norfolk Broads. For a bigger day out, Wroxham is about a 20 minute drive. They call it the capital of the Broads. You can get boat trips and the Bure Valley Railway there.

The coast is about a ten minute drive. Sea Palling and Waxham have sandy beaches. You sometimes see seals. For a better chance to see them, Horsey Gap is about a 25 minute drive. You can walk on the dunes there.

Norwich is about 45 minutes by car if you want a city day. They've got the cathedral, the castle, and shops.

Useful links if you're planning: National Trust Norfolk, for their houses and coast, and The Broads Authority for maps and boating information.
