Heron is a lodge on the River Bure near Wroxham. It's one of four. It sleeps eight in four bedrooms and has three bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well equipped.
The layout is upside-down. The living room and a balcony are upstairs to make the most of the river view. You can sit out there with a drink and watch the boats go by. The balcony is furnished.
There's a lawned area right by the water. You get a day boat included with the lodge, which seats eight. You can moor it right outside. There's a charge for the boat during Whit week and the summer holidays, but it's a good rate from the owner. If you've got a fishing licence and your own gear, you can fish from the owner's stretch of riverbank.
Wroxham is about a ten minute walk. They call it the capital of the Broads. There are shops, a few cafes, and places to eat there. The local pub is also within walking distance.
You're in the middle of it for getting out on the water. The boatyard next door runs trips if you don't fancy skippering yourself. For walking and cycling, there are plenty of paths all around the broads. The coast is about half an hour's drive. Cromer and Sheringham have proper seaside beaches. Norwich is under half an hour away for a city day out, with the cathedral, castle, and shopping.
The facilities are what you'd expect: parking, wifi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if you need one. You can bring up to three dogs. They have pet life jackets here for a ten pound refundable deposit. Human life jackets are provided free for the boat.
