Staysail

Staysail is one of three flats in a converted boat shed on the river in Hoveton. It's right next to Wroxham Broad. You get your own deck with a table and chairs that looks straight out over the water. It's good for watching the boats go by.

It sleeps nine people in five bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which helps with a full house. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well equipped and comfortable. The main quirk is the stairs: they're the original shipyard stairs from the building's past, so they're quite steep and a bit narrow. Fine for most, but watch your step.

You get a private mooring right outside. The big benefit is the use of a motor day launch, free, for most of the year. In the school summer holidays, you can't use that one, but the owner can arrange a hire boat for you at a reduced rate. If you've got a fishing licence, you're welcome to fish from the bank nearby.

Wroxham village centre, with shops, a couple of supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants, is about a ten-minute walk away. It's handy. The local pub is about half a mile.

For getting out, you're in the middle of the Norfolk Broads. The best way to see it is from the water, obviously. But there are also plenty of walking and cycling paths around. The coast at places like Happisburgh or Sea Palling is about a 30-minute drive. Norwich is 15 minutes in the other direction, good for a day out shopping or at the castle.

Facilities: it's got pretty much everything you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, cot, stairgate. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's parking on site.
