The Barn

The Barn is off Coltishall's high street. It's a detached, timber-framed building that used to be part of the farm. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs, and there's a hot tub.

It sleeps four. There's a double bedroom on the ground floor and another double up on the mezzanine. The stairs to the mezzanine are quite steep, that's just the way the building is. There's one bathroom, which is downstairs. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

The village has pretty much everything you need. There are four pubs that do food, a couple of takeaways, a proper butcher, a shop, and a very good restaurant. You can walk to all of it. The river Bure is a ten minute walk away. There's a village green there where you can sit and watch the boats. You can hire canoes and that sort of thing from there too.

Wroxham is about three miles away. That's where you'll find the big boat hire places and more shops. Wroxham Barns is nearby, which has craft shops and a petting farm, useful if you've got kids.

The coast is about half an hour's drive. Happisburgh is one of the nearest, with the lighthouse. Cromer and Mundesley are a bit further.

For facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for one car on the drive. Bedding and towels are included. It says wheelchair accessible entrance, so the threshold is level, but the main bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor. You can bring up to two dogs.

Useful links if you're planning: Norfolk Broads Authority for boating and walking info, and National Trust Norfolk for places like Felbrigg Hall or Blickling nearby.
