Dunlin
This is Dunlin, in Filey. It's one of three new cottages built around a little courtyard just off the main street. They're upside-down, so you go in on the ground floor.
Downstairs is where the bedroom and bathroom are. The bathroom has a bath with a shower over it. The stairs go up to the living space. It's all open plan up there, with a kitchen, dining table, and sofa. The ceiling is vaulted with skylights, so it feels quite light. There's a TV and wi-fi. Outside the front door is a private patio with a table and chairs.
It's for two people. We allow up to two dogs. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The position is the main thing. You're about a three minute walk from the beach. The town centre, with all the shops and cafés, is basically on your doorstep. The promenade is lovely for a walk.
Filey Brigg is good for a stroll and some birdwatching. For a bigger birdwatching day, the RSPB reserve at Bempton Cliffs is about a ten minute drive. You can see puffins there in season.
If you want to drive out into the countryside, you're on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Dalby Forest is good for walking or cycling, and they've got a Go Ape there. The North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Pickering to Whitby, which is a nice trip. Whitby and York are both about an hour's drive for a full day out.
In terms of what's here, you've got the listed facilities. There's a dishwasher, parking right outside, and bedding and towels are included. There's a local pub a short walk away.
If you're coming with more people, the other two cottages in the courtyard are identical, so all three together sleep six.
