Seaside Grandad's

The house is called Seaside Grandad's. It's on a quiet estate in Filey, about a ten minute walk from the front and the main beach. The house was built just after the First World War as part of the 'Homes for Heroes' scheme.

It sleeps six, maybe seven if you use the day bed in the snug. There are three bedrooms upstairs and one bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well equipped. The stairs are fairly typical for a house of that age.

The back garden is enclosed, which is good if you've got kids or a dog. There's a patio area and a lawn. You can bring one well-behaved pet.

Filey itself is a proper old-fashioned seaside town. It's quieter than Scarborough or Bridlington. The beach is long and sandy. The Brigg is a good walk if you like rock pools. For a longer walk, the Cleveland Way path runs right through town.

Within about half an hour you can drive to Scarborough, Bridlington, or the North York Moors. Flamborough Head is nearby for cliffs and seabirds. If you're into history, Whitby Abbey is about 40 minutes away.

The house has a washing machine, WiFi, and bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. Parking is on the street outside the house.

For local information, the North York Moors National Park website is useful.
