Cubert, a small friendly village with an artisan bakers, local pub and village shop is a treat in itself but a short drive or walk will bring you to Holywell Bay, a beach made famous for its use as a TV set in the TV series ’Poldark’. The famous conical rocks are often used as a backdrop in the series. The beach is a mile of golden sands backed by fantastic dunes, the perfect spot for some surfing or just relaxing. Just a short walk through the garden gate and across the field at the back of the cottage will bring you to the well known local inn, said once to be the haunt of smugglers.
The Eden Project, St Ives, Padstow, Fowey, Truro and many quiet and secluded bays and villages are easily reached as Cubert is centrally located on this dramatic peninsula.
Newquay and Perranporth with plenty of things to see and do, are about 3 miles away in opposite directions and both are great days out. Newquay with its zoo, parks, working harbour, sea fishing, surfing schools and cinema is worth a visit and Perranporth with its sand locked beach bar with live music, makes a great place for a sundowner on the beach.
Candles Cottage with its own off-road parking and close to the village centre is a real gem of a find. The spacious lawned garden is ideal to relax in and overlooks green fields. Golf, horse riding, go karting, cinema, shopping and cycling are all available nearby and a family adventure park, is within walking distance. Beach 1½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 100 yards.
