Chy-An-Brae is on Marcus Hill in Newquay. The name is Cornish for house on the hill. It's a big house, three floors, so it's good for a group. It sleeps twelve across six bedrooms. There are three bathrooms.
It's a four star place. It's comfortable and well looked after, not just basic. The dining table extends and has bench seating for everyone.
The location is the main thing. You're up on the hill, but you can walk down into the town centre and to the beaches in a few minutes. All the shops, restaurants, and pubs are right there. You don't really need the car once you're here.
For things to do, Newquay Zoo is walkable. There's the Blue Reef Aquarium and the Lighthouse Cinema too.
A few things to know. The stairs inside are open and a bit steep in places. They're not unusual for a house like this, but you should be aware. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have kids or dogs. We take up to two pets.
We've left some things there for families: a travel cot, highchair, stairgates, buckets and spades, and some board games. There's also a washing machine, dishwasher, and parking on site.
If you want to explore further, the whole north Cornish coast is within reach. For planning trips, the National Trust Cornwall site is useful, as is the Visit Cornwall page.
