Rock Cottage
Rock Cottage is in Aldwark. It's a tiny village up in the Derbyshire hills, very quiet. The cottage is detached, with its own garden and parking for one car.
It's a 4 Star place, sleeps three. There are two bedrooms: one with a standard double bed, the other with a small double best for one person. One bathroom, which is downstairs. The stairs are typical old cottage stairs, so they're a bit steep and turn a corner.
Inside, it's comfortable, not fancy. There's a wood burner in the living room, which is good for cooler nights. The conservatory is where you eat, it looks out onto the garden. The kitchen has what you need.
Aldwark itself has maybe a dozen houses. On Saturday evenings there's a pop-up ale bar in the village hall. It's very local. You're right on the edge of the Peak District for walking. The High Peak Trail is closest, but the Tissington Trail and Monsal Trail are within a short drive. The walking is excellent straight from the door.
Matlock, Ashbourne, and Buxton are all about a 20-minute drive if you need shops or a choice of pubs. Ashbourne is the start of the Dovedale walk with the stepping stones. For a bigger day out, Carsington Water is about half an hour away for walks or watersports. Alton Towers is also within a 30-minute drive.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, WiFi, TV, washing machine. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
