Tissington Ford Barn
Tissington Ford Barn is in Bradbourne, out near Ashbourne. It's a single-storey barn conversion, all on the ground floor, which is handy. It sleeps twelve people, has six bedrooms and four bathrooms. It's a 5 Star place, so it's done to a high spec.
It's part of a group of old buildings called Bradbourne Mill. The barn itself is from the 1500s. They've kept a lot of the original stonework and oak beams inside. The ceilings are vaulted. There's a wood burner.
Outside, there's a patio with picnic tables. It leads on to your own private paddock they call the 'secret garden'. It's fenced off and just for you. Good for kids to run around or have a picnic.
The location is the main thing. You're in the Peak District National Park. You can walk straight from the door onto paths. Carsington Water is about a mile away for sailing and walks. The nearest pub is three miles, so you'll likely drive.
Within half an hour you've got a lot. Bakewell is close. So is Chatsworth House. Alton Towers is about thirty minutes' drive if you've got kids who want that. For more walking, the National Trust Peak District site has good ideas.
Facilities: it's got the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's an electric vehicle charger. You can bring one dog. They can arrange a hot tub for an extra charge if you want one.
