Barn Owl Lodge is a semi-detached cottage in Hognaston, right on the edge of the Peak District. The views from the front are over fields and hills. It's a four-star place, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom with a shower. The main living area is open plan. There's a wood burner, which works well. The wifi is fine for normal use.
You're about a three-minute walk from Carsington Water. You can see it from the lane. They do sailing and bike hire there, and the walking track around it is good. The reservoir itself is run by Severn Trent Water if you want to check activities.
Ashbourne is a ten-minute drive. It's a proper market town with useful shops. Bakewell is about twenty minutes. Chatsworth is maybe half an hour. For walking, Dovedale is very close, about fifteen minutes by car. Alton Towers is within half an hour if that's your sort of thing.
There's a pub and a restaurant a mile and a half away. The nearest shop is two miles, so you'll likely drive.
Facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and parking for two cars on the drive. There's a patio with a barbecue. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a highchair. No pets, sorry.
