Greenacres Cottage

Greenacres Cottage is an annex attached to our house in Middleton. It's near Wirksworth, up in the hills. You get two bedrooms and a bathroom, so it sleeps four. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's a bit nicer and more comfortable than the basic places.

You're welcome to use the garden and the bit of woodland we have, which is about an acre and a half. We get a lot of birds there. If you like watching them, you can just sit at the window.

The place is right next to the High Peak Trail. Literally, you can walk out the gate and onto it. There's the Middleton Top visitor centre a few hundred yards away. They've got the old engine house and you can hire bikes.

There are two pubs in the village, both a short walk. They're decent. For groceries or more places to eat, you'd go into Wirksworth, which is about a mile down the hill. It's a funny old town, got a bit of history to it.

If you drive, there's lots around. Cromford and the Arkwright Mills are part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, about ten minutes away. The Crich Tramway Museum is good for a day out. Matlock Bath is down the road, and the Peak District National Park is all around. You can be in Bakewell or at Chatsworth in under half an hour.

For facilities, it's got what you'd need. Washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a stairgate if you're bringing a little one. There's parking here. You can use the BBQ. Sorry, no pets.

If you're planning walks or seeing the area, the Peak District National Park site is useful.
