Swallow Barn
Swallow Barn is near Hognaston, just outside of Ashbourne. It's a stone cottage, ground floor only. You can walk to Carsington Water from here, it's only three minutes down the lane.
It sleeps two people, one bedroom. It's got the 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean but not luxury. The ceilings are high, with old beams. The room feels big because of it. French doors open out from the living area onto a patio.
The bed is a good wooden frame. There's a wood burning stove for cooler nights. You've got a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's parking right outside. The shower is a walk-in type.
The local shop is two miles away in the village. There's a pub and a restaurant about a mile and a half walk. They're decent.
Carsington Water is the main thing on the doorstep. You can hire bikes or boats, or just walk the circuit. For walks, Dovedale is a short drive away. Ashbourne is a nice little town to get supplies. Bakewell, Matlock Bath and the big houses like Chatsworth are all within about half an hour's drive.
