This is Godfrey Hole Cottage in Hopton, Wirksworth. It's attached to our main house, Godfrey Hole House, but you've got the cottage and garden to yourselves. We live next door in case you need anything.
It sleeps three, across two bedrooms, and has one bathroom. It's a 4 Star cottage, which means it's modernised and well-equipped. There's a wood burner in the living room, which heats the place up nicely. The kitchen has a dishwasher.
The cottage is on the edge of the village, so it feels rural. You look out onto fields. The patio and garden get the sun in the afternoon.
Hopton itself is quiet. There's a local pub about a ten minute walk down the hill. The historic town of Wirksworth is about a mile away. It's got cafes, pubs, shops, a small cinema, and a monthly farmers' market. It's a good base for getting out.
For walking, you're right by the High Peak Trail and the Tissington Trail, which are old railway lines. Carsington Water is a few minutes' drive away for sailing or a walk around the reservoir.
Chatsworth House is about twenty minutes by car. Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall are also within half an hour. Buxton is about twenty-five minutes north if you fancy the opera house or the Pavilion Gardens.
Facilities wise: it has WiFi, a TV, parking, and bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. No pets, I'm afraid.
