Nightingale Cottage is on our farm in Whatstandwell. It's one of two cottages here, built a long time ago. You get a view over the fields and the valley.
It sleeps six people in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and clean, not luxury. The walls are thick and the ceilings are a bit low in places, just so you know.
You're welcome to bring one dog. There's parking right outside.
The farm is quiet. You'll see birds and sometimes badgers or foxes. You can fish in our pond, which has tench and carp, or in our stretch of the River Derwent, which is about half a mile long. It's free for guests.
You can walk straight from the door. The Cromford Canal is on the farm and it's good for a flat stroll. For a longer walk, the Derwent Valley Heritage Way goes through here.
The local shop is about three-quarters of a mile away. The pub is a mile. It does food.
Matlock Bath is ten minutes by car. They've got the illuminations in season and Gulliver's Kingdom for kids. Carsington Water is about fifteen minutes away, good for sailing or a walk around the reservoir. You can be in the Peak District National Park in twenty minutes. Chatsworth House is about half an hour's drive. So is Alton Towers if that's your sort of thing.
Inside, there's a washing machine, a TV, and wifi. We include all the bedding. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can store bikes.
