The Stables

The Stables is a one-bedroom cottage converted from an old farm building. It's on our land, next to our house and another cottage called The Haybarn. It's for two people.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well looked after and comfortable. We've put in a super king size bed and a wood burner. The kitchen is modern and you can cook in if you want. The shower is en suite. The doors open out onto a private patio with a table and chairs, which looks over the fields.

You can bring one dog. There's a bicycle store if you bring bikes.

The village pub is about a five minute walk. It does food. The nearest shop is a mile away in Wirksworth.

You can walk straight onto the High Peak Trail from the cottage. It's good for walking or cycling. The National Trust Peak District page has lots of information about the area.

Wirksworth is about ten minutes by car. It has shops, cafes, and the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway. Carsington Water is nearby for walking, cycling, and watersports.

Matlock Bath is a fifteen minute drive. It's got amusement arcades, fish and chips, and the Peak District mining museum. Cromford, which is part of the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site, is also close.

For a day out, Chatsworth House is about a thirty minute drive. Haddon Hall is a bit further. The Tramway Museum in Crich is twenty minutes away.
