Laburnum House is in Darley Dale. It's part of Matlock, but it's a village with its own feel. The house is quite big and a bit quirky.
It sleeps seven people in five bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and clean, but not luxurious.
The layout is unusual. The main living room is on the ground floor. It's got an American pool table. There's also a toilet and a utility room down there, which is handy for muddy boots or wiping dog paws.
You go down a flight of stairs to the basement. That's where you'll find two single bedrooms, a shower room, and a snug. The snug has a PlayStation, a pinball machine, and some armchairs. It's a good spot for teenagers.
The first floor has the kitchen, a double bedroom, and the main family bathroom. There's another living area on this floor too, with a dining table that seats everyone. The view from there is nice, looking out over the Dales. A door leads to another single bedroom.
A spiral staircase goes from that living area up to the top floor. That's where the twin bedroom is. The stairs are mentioned in the note: some are steep, some are spiral, some are narrow. Just something to be aware of.
Outside is a courtyard garden with seating. There's a pizza oven you can use.
It's a friendly area, so we ask that you try to keep noise down after 10pm for the neighbours.
For getting out, you're right in the Peak District. Chatsworth House is about 15 minutes by car. So is Bakewell, which is a proper market town with good shops and places to eat.
Matlock Bath is about 10 minutes away. It's an old spa town in a gorge. There are shops, pubs, and things like Gulliver's Kingdom for kids. You can get a cable car up to the Heights of Abraham. South of there is Cromford Mill, which is where the High Peak Cycle Trail starts. The National Tramway Museum at Crich is a short drive.
Facilities include parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. It's listed as having a wheelchair accessible entrance. You can bring up to two pets.
