The Bobbin
The Bobbin is over in Kelstedge, just outside Matlock. It's a converted barn. We did it up a few years ago. It used to be a cow shed and pig sty. You can still see the old feeding trough and the stone walls.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable. We've put in decent sofas and a decent TV with Sky and Netflix. The kitchen has proper Denby plates and things. We leave you some chocolates and biscuits when you arrive.
We like dogs. You can bring two. We leave out a dog towel and you can borrow bowls and a bed if you need them. The garden is enclosed.
The place is on the edge of the Peak District. Matlock Forest is five minutes away by car. Good for walks with the dog. A local pub and a farm shop café are a short walk from the door. The pub does food.
Matlock town centre is about five minutes' drive. It's an old spa town. There's a boating lake and a steam train. Matlock Bath is nearby, with the Heights of Abraham cable cars and Gulliver's Kingdom.
You can get to Bakewell in about fifteen minutes. That's where the Bakewell pudding is from. Chatsworth House is a twenty-minute drive. For water sports, Carsington Water is close by for sailing or paddle boarding.
For planning days out, these sites are useful: Peak District National Park and National Trust Peak District.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, the TV stuff, a washing machine, and bedding and towels are included. We put up some Christmas decorations if you're staying over that period.
