The Bobbin is a converted barn in Kelstedge, right on the edge of the Peak District. It was a cow shed and pig sty originally. We've kept some of the old bits, like the stone walls and the oak beams. There’s also the original feeding trough in the living area, which is a bit of a talking point.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The sofas are leather, one reclines. There's Sky TV with the cinema channels, plus Netflix and Disney+. We provide a welcome pack with some basics when you arrive.
The stairs up to the bedrooms are the original barn stairs. They're fine, but they are quite steep and turn a corner, so just be aware.
We allow two dogs. We've got two ourselves. We leave out some dog treats and you can borrow a dog bed, bowls, and a towel if you need them. There’s an enclosed garden. Matlock Forest is five minutes away by car and is great for walks.
There's a country pub and a farm shop café within walking distance. Both do good food.
Matlock is about five minutes drive. It's got shops, places to eat, and a boating lake. Matlock Bath is along the road, with the Heights of Abraham and Gulliver's Kingdom if you've got kids. Bakewell is close, for the puddings. Chatsworth House is about twenty minutes away. Carsington Water is good for kayaking or a walk. Chesterfield, with its crooked spire, is not far either.
For more ideas, the Peak District National Park site is useful, as is the National Trust for the area.
In terms of what’s here: all the utilities are included. There’s WiFi, the enclosed garden, parking right outside, and all bedding and towels are provided.
