Alton Hall Cottage

This is Alton Hall Cottage. It's in Alton, which is a really quiet hamlet near Ashover. It's a detached place, so you've got your own space. A little brook runs around the edge of the garden. That's mostly what you can hear, that and the birds.

It sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom. That's handy with a big group. It's got a 5 Star rating, which basically means everything's been done to a high standard.

The kitchen is big and modern, with a big range cooker. It opens into the dining room, which has a large farmhouse table. The main living space is in what was the barn. It's got a high vaulted ceiling, a wood burner, a big TV and doors that open out. There's also a bedroom on the ground floor.

Outside is the best bit. There are a few different areas. There's a covered dining spot, a stone firepit, and a lawn with a swing for kids. There's a hot tub on the patio, looking over the brook. There's also a smaller, hidden garden tucked away along the brook if you want some quiet. A public footpath starts right by the lane, so you can walk straight out from the door.

The nearest pub and shop are about a mile away, in Ashover. That village has what you need.

For things to do, you're really well placed. Chatsworth House is about a quarter of an hour's drive. So are Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. Matlock is the nearest town, with the Heights of Abraham cable cars and Matlock Bath. Bakewell is about twenty minutes away. Chesterfield, with its crooked spire church, is six miles. For a day out, you've got Bolsover Castle or watersports at Carsington Water, both within half an hour.

Facilities: it's got pretty much everything. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, parking. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
