Alton Hall Cottage

Alton Hall Cottage is near Alton, which is a small village in Derbyshire. It's a detached stone cottage, so you've got your own space. There's a brook running around the edge of the garden. That's about all you can hear.

It sleeps eight people. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms, so everyone gets their own. It's a five-star place, which means it's finished to a high standard and has things like underfloor heating, robes and a coffee machine. The beds are zip and link, so you can choose between super king or twin set-ups. There's a pull-out single bed in one room too.

Inside, it's got the original beams and flagstone floors. The living area is in a converted barn space with a high ceiling and big doors looking out to the garden. There's a wood burner, a large TV and a PlayStation. The kitchen has a range cooker.

Outside, there are a few different areas. There's an enclosed lawn with a swing for kids. A covered dining area with a firepit. And a private hot tub on a patio overlooking the brook and fields. There's also a separate little hidden garden along the brook if you want to get away from everyone.

A public footpath starts at the lane, so you can walk straight out into the countryside. The nearest shop and pub are about a mile away in Ashover.

You're well placed for the big houses. Chatsworth House is about 15 minutes drive. So are Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. Matlock is the nearest town, with Matlock Bath and the Heights of Abraham cable cars nearby. Bakewell is about 20 minutes away. Chesterfield, with the crooked spire church, is about six miles.

For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
