Ryecroft is a terraced cottage in Matlock. It sleeps five but in two bedrooms, so one room has a double and a single bed in it.
The whole place is clean and comfortable, which is what the 4 Star rating means. It’s not palatial, but it's well looked after. You get three floors. There are two sitting rooms, both with wood burners. The kitchen has what you need: cooker, fridge, dishwasher. It leads out to a small patio and lawned garden.
You get a good view of Riber Castle from the front window. That’s just a ruin on the hill, but it's an interesting thing to look at. Note that the cottage is at the top of a hill that runs down into town. It's a proper hill, so the walk back up is a bit of a climb.
Matlock town centre has shops, cafes, and pubs all within walking distance. There’s a market on some days.
Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are both about a fifteen to twenty minute drive away. Bakewell, which is a nice market town in the Peak District, is about the same. You can be in the middle of the Peak District National Park countryside in half an hour or less.
For facilities: there’s a washing machine, bedding and towels are included, WiFi, TV. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. We allow up to two dogs. There’s a bit of bike storage.
If you're planning walks or days out, these are the main sites: Peak District National Park Authority and National Trust - Peak District.
