The Old Angel
The Old Angel is just off the Main Street in Winster. It used to be a pub, and then a sort of boarding house. It's a big, solid old stone building.
It sleeps 18. There are six bedrooms, and each one has its own bathroom. That's the main thing, really. You don't have to queue. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The place is full of old oak beams and floorboards. They creak a bit. If you're tall, watch your head on some of the beams downstairs.
You can take up to four dogs. There's a yard out the back.
The village shop is next door. The pub is up the road. The old Market Hall, which is run by the National Trust, is right opposite.
Because of the way the booking works, you also get private use of the indoor heated pool and sauna at Harthill Hall. That's about three miles away. You book your slot.
For places to go, Bakewell is about ten minutes in the car. Chatsworth House is maybe twenty minutes. Buxton is about twenty-five minutes. You've got all the Peak District walking right from the door. Peak District National Park has the maps and routes.
The facilities list covers most of it. There's a dishwasher, WiFi, plenty of parking and there's an electric car charger. Bedding and towels are included. We put a cot and a highchair in there too.
