Harthill Barn

Harthill Barn is on the Harthill Hall estate near Alport. It's part of an old courtyard of farm buildings. The estate is about 14 acres and right on the edge of the Peak District.

The barn sleeps ten. Six bedrooms, all with their own bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well equipped. The main living space is open plan. Because it's an old building, the ceilings are beamed and the walls are thick stone. It feels solid.

You get access to the estate's leisure facilities. There's an indoor heated swimming pool, a sauna, and a games room. There's also a kids' play area outside. Parking is on site and there's an electric vehicle charger.

The local pub is about a mile away in Youlgreave. They serve food. The nearest shop is in Bakewell, which is about three and a half miles. Bakewell has a few supermarkets, cafes, and the famous pudding shop.

For walks, you can step straight out onto paths. The Peak District National Park website has good route ideas. Several big houses are close by. Chatsworth is about 20 minutes by car. Haddon Hall is maybe 15 minutes. For National Trust places, Longshaw and Hardwick Hall are within half an hour.

Other things nearby: there's golf and horse riding within five miles. Matlock, Buxton, and Chesterfield are all within a 30 minute drive if you need a bigger town.

Practical stuff: the facilities list is accurate. It has a dishwasher, wifi, TV, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to three dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
