Starry Cottage is in Bakewell. It’s a couple of minutes walk to the shops and pubs in the town centre. The cottage is old, from the 1820s. It's got a wood burning stove and the floor in the kitchen is stone, which is nice but quite cold underfoot, so you’ll want slippers.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom upstairs. It’s a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable and well looked after. The stairs are narrow and turn a corner, which is normal for a cottage this age, just be careful.
You can bring one dog. The garden at the back is enclosed, so it's secure for them. It’s not huge, but there’s a table and chairs out there.
Bakewell is good for a wander. There’s a market on Mondays. For a proper walk, the Monsal Trail is about a ten minute drive. It’s a flat path along an old railway line, so it's easy going. National Trust Peak District has good information on other walks. Chatsworth House is very close, maybe 15 minutes by car. Haddon Hall is about the same.
Within half an hour you can get to Buxton or Castleton. Castleton has the show caves. Edale is the start of the Pennine Way if you’re feeling ambitious. Alton Towers is about an hour away if you’ve got kids who are into that.
Facilities: it's got the wood burner, WiFi, a washing machine, and a TV. We provide bedding and towels. There’s a cot and a highchair if you need them.
