Rutland House is a big, old place in the middle of Bakewell. It used to belong to the Duke of Rutland. It sleeps twelve, which makes it good for families or groups.
There are six bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable. The finishes are nice, things are in good order. The bathrooms have underfloor heating, which is a good touch.
You've got a private garden, which is rare for somewhere so central. It's walled, so it's quiet. There's an old well out there, one of the original Bakewell wells. The old stable block is handy for storing bikes.
Parking is easy. There's a drive that takes five cars, so you don't have to worry about it.
Inside, the layout works. There's a big kitchen with a table, a separate dining room, and a lounge with an open fire. The stairs are fine, just remember it's a tall house.
You're right in town. The pub is a hundred yards away. You can walk to everything in Bakewell in minutes, the shops, the bakeries, the river.
For days out, Chatsworth House is a short drive. It's the main thing here. The Peak District National Park is on your doorstep for walking. You can get fishing permits locally if that's your thing.
Facilities cover what you'd need: wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine, cots and highchairs if required. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to three dogs.
