Rutland House is in Bakewell town centre. It's a big historic place that used to belong to the Duke of Rutland. It sleeps twelve over six bedrooms. There are three bathrooms.
The first thing you'll notice is the parking. You can get five cars on the drive, which is a proper bonus right in the town. The garden is good too, big and private with high walls. There's an old well out there, one of Bakewell's nine wells. There's also a stable block you can put bikes in.
Inside, there's a big kitchen with a table, a dining room, a lounge with an open fire, and a study. The rooms are spacious. It's got a 4 Star rating so it's nicely finished. The bathrooms have underfloor heating. One has his and hers sinks, another has a big mirror with lights that connects to Bluetooth for music.
The stairs are fine, just normal house stairs.
You can walk everywhere from the door. The pub is about a hundred yards away. Bakewell itself has all the shops, pudding shops, and places to eat. You can walk down by the river Derwent.
Chatsworth House is a short drive away. You can spend a whole day there walking the grounds and having afternoon tea.
For walking, you're right in the Peak District. You can be on a trail within minutes. There's fishing on the River Wye if that's your thing.
The facilities cover most things. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, a cot and highchair. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to three dogs.
