Heather House

Heather House is on the edge of Bakewell. It's a stone cottage, detached. You can walk into the town centre in about ten minutes.

It sleeps four. Two good sized bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating which means it's been done up to a comfortable standard. The renovation is recent.

You get off-road parking, which is a plus in Bakewell. The garden is south facing and enclosed, so it gets the sun. There's a summerhouse out there with some sun loungers. The view from the front looks out over the town.

Bakewell itself is busy. It's a proper market town with lots of shops, cafes and pubs. There's often something on, like the show or the well dressing. The River Wye runs through it, good for a stroll.

For walking, the Monsal Trail is close. It's a traffic-free path on an old railway line, so it's flat. Good for cycling too. The old Bakewell Station is about a ten minute walk uphill from the house. Once you're on the trail, the views are great.

You can walk to Chatsworth from here across the fields, if you don't mind a good hike. By car, it's very quick.

Within half an hour's drive you've got Buxton, Chesterfield, and Matlock Bath. Castleton is about the same. Further out, in around 45 minutes, you can get to Sheffield or Alton Towers.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's local golf and a pub nearby. Sorry, no pets.
